Family, friends and political associates came Wednesday came together to celebrate the life and death of the first Executive Governor of Oyo state and Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige.
This was just as the called for justice over the gruesome murder of the sage at the 20th anniversary memorial and communion service of the Political Gladiator held at Saints Anne’s Church, Molete, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In a sermon, Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, lamented that it was unfortunate that the alleged killers of the Late Bola Ige were still unknown.
The Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa noted that 20 years on, strife and bitterness were still evident among Nigerians, which according to the Cleric, had hindered the progress of the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the late Political Icon’s Family, the son, Arc. Muyiwa Ige said the family was disappointed that no one had been identified as the killer of their father.
Political associates of the late Bola Ige, including a former deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, Mr Ayo Afolabi and Mr Adetunji Adepeju all believed that no matter how long it takes, the killers of the Political Icon would be found and punished.
Other dignitaries at the service included Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Mojisola Adeyeye, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Niyi Akintola and a former Chief Whip ay the Senate, Senator Olusola Adeyeye.
