Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Tourism and Culture, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige, has described the re-introduction of History into the teaching curriculum in Oyo State primary schools as a great step that will enhance cultural rejuvenation and promote moral values.
Ige, the former council boss and Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland in a statement said he was happy with the development. He urged the teachers and other stakeholders to embrace the development.
According to him, apart from enriching the young ones about the past, they will understand and get more information about our cultural and moral values which if applied to their daily living will make our society a better place.
“I am elated with the development and i want to commend the governor, the ministry and SUBEB for the initiative, it is indeed a pathway to restore sanity to the society.”
The former minority leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, however, tasked parents and guardians to encourage their children to study history as well as read historical books that will broaden their minds and prepare them for the future because “a reader is a leader.”
