Nigerian voters have been urged to evaluate candidates based on their past performance, not just appearance. The nation urgently requires a robust leader capable of guiding it through challenging times.
The call was contained in a press release made available to the newsmen in Oyo State after the maiden meeting of the Atiku Haske Organisation, Oyo State chapter (AHO), a support group focused on mobilising Oyo State voters for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid.
In his statement, the group’s state coordinator, Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, cautioned that ” our people are tired of being in the wilderness they are presently engulfed in, and the only way to sprint out of the miasma is to make the right choice of a knowledgeable President with proven track records.”
Otunba Adesokan also averred that ” our people can’t be no longer careened into voting based on tribal sentiments at this defeated age. Competence, verve, and vigour to steer the ship of the nation should be our watchwords; that is the global best practice.
In his reaction, the group’s spokesperson, Alhaji Adebisi Waheed, declared that the local coordinators specifically saddled with the task as rallying points for the 33 LGs in the State had been identified and will be launched very soon as” we are already behind schedule.”
We can’t reshape the edges at this crucial period to fit in the square peg in a round role, we can’t test the waters at this momentous time when God has given us Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to save Nigeria ‘s ship from the rapids,” Adebisi said.
The group pledged to exert maximum effort to prevent the Oyo State people from succumbing to political scammers’ old tricks during the 2003 elections.
