The family of a popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido is currently in the prayers of many fans after rumours made the rounds that his son, Ifeanyi, is dead.
In the late hours of October 31, 2022, news started to make the rounds on the Nigerian social media space that the three-year-old had lost his life.
While the reports were not confirmed, a close friend of the singer, Eniola Badmus, did nothing to allay the fear of fans with her social media post.
According to reports, Ifeanyi got drowned a few days after his third birthday which was on October 20.
Little Ifeanyi was said to be underwater for a very long time before being spotted.
He was immediately pulled out and rushed to Lagoon Hospital.
While the reports were not confirmed, a close friend of the singer, Eniola Badmus, did nothing to allay the fear of fans with her social media post.
On Instagram, Badmus posted a heartbroken emoji with an equally disturbing caption.
Other celebs also seemed to react to the reports on their social media pages.
After the rumours started to go viral online several Nigerians on social media prayed to God for the news to be false.
The three-year-old drowned in a private swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos, Peoples Gazette quoted a family source as saying this.
“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital,” the family source said under anonymity to await an official statement. “By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late.”
Ifeanyi Adekeke was born on October 20, 2019, by Davido’s girlfriend Chioma Rowland.
Another source close to the family said Davido was travelling in the United States when the incident happened. Chioma was believed to have travelled to Ibadan and left the child with a female domestic assistant.
The development comes two years after another artist Dapo Oyebanjo, D’banj, lost his son, who similarly drown in the family swimming pool.
