The Instagram post of Elsie, the wife of Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has sparked reactions online. The post came hours after her husband announced the end of their 12-year-old union.
REPORTERS AT LARGE recalls that the humour merchant surprised Nigerians by taking them to his verified Instagram page on Thursday to announce the end of their 12 years of marriage.
The caption of the text, as posted by Basketmouth, reads, “As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation. After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance, and support they need. We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.”
Basketmouth called for privacy at the moment and made it clear that he wouldn’t revisit the matter after his announcement.
Elsie could be said to have carried on as she recently published a post on her page, giving relationship tips to fellow women. She referenced an argument about women cooking for men during dating stages and discussed how it shouldn’t be such a big deal.
She noted that it is important for a woman to know her limit and that the guy in question is not taking advantage of her.
Elsie added that no matter what a lady chooses to do, it won’t influence a guy’s decision when choosing a partner for marriage.
