Two lawmakers representing Guma and Kwande West in the Benue State House of Assembly, among many others, were injured when the convoy of the state governor, Samuel Ortom, was involved in a car crash.
The accident occurred on Friday morning when Governor Ortom and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters travelled to the Utokon community of Ado Local Government Area to continue the party’s governorship campaign rally.
It was gathered that the incident occurred when the driver of a branded bus fully loaded with PDP supporters lost control and rammed into three vehicles: a Jeep, a security vehicle, and another bus in the convoy.
At exactly 10:50 am on Friday, the incident also affected other vehicles.
The motorcade in the convoy included the state’s deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu; Senator Abba Moro; members of the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly from the Benue South district; and other top government and party officials in the state.
Meanwhile, an ambulance attached to the convoy evacuated the injured persons to the hospital while the rest continued the journey.
