There is palpable tension in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday morning as shooting rends the air in the Apata area of the city.
One of the residents (who pleaded anonymity) of the area who spoke with our correspondent said, “We are scared by the sounds of sporadic gunshots.
“Commuters were running helter-skelter, passing in front of my house at Apata. I learnt about the corpses of three boys already at Lafia Hospital.
“Thank God the gunshots have stopped now.”
Military men were on the ground, calming the situation when filling in this report.
REPORTERS AT LARGE earlier reported that hundreds of protesters on Friday stormed the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan, injuring a police officer attached to the Governor’s office.
Angrily protesters took to the streets of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, expressing frustration over the scarcity of naira notes and premium motor spirits (PMS), popularly known as petrol.
