The results of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria have started trickling in with great surprises. Nigeria’s third-force candidate, Peter Obi, who contested the platform of the Labour Party, won Lagos State, according to results announced from the state’s collation centre. Obi beat the influential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on his home turf. Obi’s win was a surprise as the state is a stronghold of Tinubu, who was expected to win easily.

Here are the results for the four leading parties in the election – All Progressive Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and the People Democratic Party (PDP) – as declared by the National Independence Electoral Commission (INEC).

All Progressive Congress (APC) – Bola Tinubu
8,138,869 -37.34%

Labour Party (LP) – Peter Obi
4,920,292 – 25.61%

Rabiu Kwankwaso – (NNPP)
