Rick Ross is feeling charitable. The rapper collaborated with Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif to award eight Miami students from Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens, Florida, $10,000 in scholarships.
On his visit to the school, Ross remarked, “You know, to come and give back to the community right here, that means a lot.” Students also received tickets to Rolling Loud Miami in July in addition to the scholarship. Reggie Leon, a councilman for the City of Miami Gardens, and Dr Steve Gallon II, a member of the school board, joined Ross and Cherif.
“I am nothing but blessed,” scholarship recipient De’Zyre Frederick told CBS Miami. “It’s good to see the alumni come back and give back to the students, which is something that is so amazing.”
The scholarships were in honour of Ross’ Boss Up Day 2023 and awarded to students who displayed academic excellence. “It’s not a gift,” Cherif added. “They earned it.”
At the awards ceremony, Ross personally pulled out a hundred-dollar cash from his pocket and gave it to a student who had a staggering 4.6 GPA.
The rapper recently hinted at a collaboration with Meek Mill by releasing a photo of the two in the studio with the phrase “Dreams & Nightmares” on Instagram. Ross will also be a part of the 2023 Legendz of the Streetz Reloaded Tour, which launches in Philadelphia on April 14. Other performers include Jadakiss, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Cam’ron, Remy Ma, Fivio Foreign, and others.
