Retired IAS officer RA Rajeev recently delighted the internet by posting an image of a young boy travelling alone in the Mumbai metro.

In the image, the boy is sitting beside his bicycle, which was strapped onto the metro rail in its designated space. The boy also wears a helmet as he obediently follows the rules of the Mumbai metro.

Rajeev shared the picture on Twitter and wrote, “This young boy is a daily traveller in #MumbaiMetro, goes to attend tuition. It was a pleasant site to witness him parking his bicycle easily. He looked very comfortable with the metro services. All the best to him.”

The boy uses his bicycle to get to his tuition classes after he gets off the metro rail. Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri also stumbled upon the post and liked the boy’s hardworking courage.

Puri noted the boy’s brilliance and wrote, “India’s journey through #AmritKaal will be powered by smart and innovative youngsters like this confident commuter from Mumbai who travels daily to his tuition on the metro and keeps his bicycle ready for last-mile connectivity. Inheritors and drivers of India’s future!”

People Online Marvelled At The Cycle Facility In Mumbai Metro

One user in the comments compared the metro’s facilities to those of a local train and wrote, “At least in the metro, it’s free to take a bike, but in the local train, it would cost you around 200 rupees. The cycle should be encouraged on local trains by adding one more coach just for cyclists. I would surely encourage a lot of people, I hope.”

Another user launched his demands: “We want pets to be allowed in the metro too.”

One shared their own experience, “Initially I thought these bike stands would be a flop, but after witnessing one bike on it almost every second time I travel these routes, I’m proved wrong.”
