Footballer Achraf Hakimi, who plays for the Moroccan national team as well as for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, recently hogged the headlines when reports of his ex-wife demanding half his fortune in a divorce settlement went viral.
The couple first got together in 2018, when Hakimi was just 19 years old and his now ex-wife Hiba Abouk was 31. After a whirlwind romance of five years, Abouk anticipated that she would get half of Hakimi’s Euro 70 million fortune as the couple approached their separation.
However, the situation pulled a 360 on Abouk when she found out that Achraf Hakimi owns none of his own fortunes. The ultimate uno reverse came about when the court informed Abouk that her “millionaire” husband owned none of his assets. All of the football star’s assets are under his mom’s name.
The PSG player received a whopping €1 million per month (over Rs 9 crore). But about 80% of his money was deposited into his mother Fatima’s account. From the looks of it, the 24-year-old appears to not own any property, including cars, houses, jewellery, or even his own clothes.
Achraf Hakimi’s Unusual Arrangement With His Mother
This revelation left Abouk with no right to claim any of Achraf Hakimi’s fortunes, which in actuality were never his in the first place. According to reports, Hakimi shared an unusual arrangement with his mother, wherein he informed her of things he would like to purchase and she would then buy them for him. This allowed the footballer to not register his earnings under his own name.
The situation has erupted online as people speculate about the motivations behind Hakimi’s arrangement with his mother. The divorce proceeding came after an investigation was launched against the player after allegations of him molesting a woman in his matrimonial home flared up.
