Ahmed Muhammad, a student from Oakland, California, who is 18 years old, made history by becoming the first Black male valedictorian of Oakland Technical High School.
Muhammad earned the top academic ranking in his class with a cumulative GPA of 4.73. He plays varsity basketball for the Bulldogs and is an exceptional athlete.
Along with that, Muhammad started Kits Cubed last year, a business that provides science instruction. Children in elementary and secondary schools can enjoy doing experiments with the company’s amusing and reasonably priced science kits.
According to Muhammad, who spoke to KTVU, “Founding Kits Cubed was the culmination of all of the invaluable lessons I learned throughout high school from so many amazing people.” “I’m happy we managed to produce something significant before graduating.”
Muhammad, however, claimed that it was only the beginning of countless opportunities for him. He received acceptance letters from all 11 schools he applied to, including his “dream school,” Stanford, as well as Harvard, Princeton, UC Berkeley, and Columbia University. He hasn’t made up his mind, but he intends to major in both engineering and computer science.
Muhammad, who will be the first member of his family to attend college, is appreciative of his parents for setting a good example for him by working hard and setting high standards for themselves. He wants to serve as an example for other young people so they can succeed.
It’s a dream come true to be named valedictorian, he added. I hope that being class valedictorian inspires others from similar backgrounds to do the same.
This is absolutely AMAZING! My two aunts graduated from the same school! I graduated from a Prep School (exclusive/private) in Oakland and to this day (150 years in existence), we have never had a Black Valedictorian. Congratulations to this young man!
