Popular Nigerian artist Asake has confessed that working with legendary American musician and music producer Kanye West is one of his dreams.
The musician commented while discussing his rise to fame on an episode of Billboard News with Tetris Kelly.
Asake, who recently bagged awards at the recently concluded Headies ceremony, said, “The thing is, for me, I need to like the person before I can make music with you. I need to be comfortable with you, not even because of the music alone. I am not saying I cannot make music with other people, but I like real energy.
“If you like me beyond music, it is good. But I need to connect to your music. I need to like the person I want to work with first. So it will not be a a problem for me. There must be synergy. I have been saying it since. Let us see. Maybe God will do it. Let us see. It can work. It is Kanye West. It is actually going to be amazing.”(sic)
Asake’s desire to work with Kanye West was not unexpected. The two musicians’ musical styles will likely mesh nicely together because they share a similar creative vision.
Whether Kanye West is open to working with Asake remains to be seen. But if it works, the Nigerian singer would score a big victory.
