The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluyinka Folahan, has congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, over the Supreme Court judgement, confirming his victory at the 2023 general election.

This was disclosed in a press statement personally signed in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, which said that the apex court’s decision to respect the people’s mandate during the last election reflects respect for democratic values at this developing stage.

According to the statement, “The narrative of Nigerian democracy is gradually changing for the better course as the judiciary remains a cardinal pillar in upholding the people’s mandate. The victory of NNPP in Kano at the Supreme Court is a clear indication of the restoration of hope in Nigeria, as respect for democratic ethics and values remains important to people in leadership across all arms of government.

“The Nigerian judiciary has proven to protect the country’s democracy, and we are happy that Yusuf’s victory is the people’s victory. It is very disheartening that some political jobbers from APC want to steal away our mandate as a political voice, and we’ve taken back our mandate, and it’s time to fulfil his promises to the people. His reinstatement is the restoration of hope for the people.

Folahan equally noted that “the philosophy of NNPP will positively affect Kano state, and the kind of unprecedented greatness that awaits the state economically will set the pace in the bid to change the narrative of leadership in Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.
