Chairman, House of Representatives committee on Digital and Information Communication Technology, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide will on Thursday, handover a fully equipped Digital ICT fibre optic hub to the Oyo State government.
The hub, sited within the premises of Oke-Bola Comprehensive High School, NTC Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan is facilitated by the lawmaker as part of his constituency project and is designed to enhance secondary school students’ knowledge of ICT and digital technology.
The lawmaker, who represents Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West federal constituency of Oyo State, in collaboration with the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), delivered the state-of-the-art facility to reflect Hon. Adedeji Olajide’s commitment to empowering the next generation with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age.
The ICT hub facility, which will serve as a training ground for secondary school students and equip them with the skills they need to compete in the global digital economy is equipped with modern computers, servers and fibre optic connectivity, providing students with access to high-speed internet and cutting-edge technology.
The hub will also provide opportunities for students to learn about computer programming, software development and digital entrepreneurship, among other skills and will be managed by a team of experienced ICT professionals, who will provide training and support to students.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Olajide expressed his delight at the completion of the project, stating that it was a dream come true for him.
“I am thrilled to see this project come to fruition.
“As a representative of the people, it is my duty to ensure that our youth are equipped with the skills they need to succeed in life. This ICT hub is a major step to that commitment.”
Olajide also revealed that more of such will be set up in other parts of the state over a period of time.
