Panic As Gunmen Strike Again In Ondo, Kidnap Travellers

Armed unknown gunmen, weekend attacked and kidnapped ten travellers at Ipele area, along Benin-Owo highway in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the travellers were said to be coming from a State in the South-South zone heading to Akure when the incident happened.

Barely seven days ago, some herdsmen struck in Ondo State, killing five farmers at Ajegunle-Powerline community, in Akure North Local Government Area of the State. While the perpetrators are yet to be arrested by any security agencies in the state.

The victims, who were labourers in the community were said they were from Plateau and Kaduna states.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident said only seven people were kidnapped.

However, it was learnt that the kidnappers have contacted the families of the victims.

The security situation in Ondo State is reportedly deteriorating rapidly and ordinary citizens are now living in fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, as daredevil kidnappers, Fulani herdsmen activities have continued to unleash terror on citizens in different parts of the state.
