A socio-political movement, Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa, has made a passionate plea to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to consider the Oke Ogun region for the governorship ticket in the 2027 general elections.
The group’s chairman, Engr Dauda Alade Olaifa, in a release, emphasised that the Okeogun people have been marginalized in the state’s political landscape, with no indigene from the region having occupied the governorship position since 1999.
The appeal highlighted the region’s potential, citing its agrarian strength, resilience, and dedication. The community promises a bloc vote and unwavering support for the chosen candidate from their region.
As we look ahead to the 2027 general elections, the people of Okeogun are earnestly appealing to both parties: APC and PDP, to consider and support our region for the governorship ticket. We are not asking for Deputy Governor or Party Chairman positions this time. We are asking for the opportunity to lead.
“Let 2027 mark the first time Okeogun produces a Governor. We assure you, it will not be a decision you will regret. We have qualified, competent, and loyal party members spread across both parties who are ready to serve. We are united beyond religious, town, or gender lines, and we will stand firmly behind your chosen candidate from our region.
“Oke Ogun is not just ready, we are resolute. As the agrarian heartland of Oyo State, we represent strength, resilience, and dedication. If given this chance, we pledge an unprecedented bloc vote that will echo far beyond the next electoral cycle.
“We understand that both parties are preparing for your respective congresses, where crucial decisions about the future will be made. Please, hear our voice. Trust us. Try us. Give Okeogun the governorship ticket, and you will find a dependable partner in progress,” Olaifa stated.
The appeal came as both parties prepare for their congresses, where crucial decisions about the future will be made. The Oke Ogun group is optimistic that their plea will be heard and considered.
This development could potentially shape the political landscape of Oyo State in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
