Two major car brands are currently facing significant national interventions. According to the latest NHTSA safety report, the kia 141k vehicle recall has been initiated alongside a similar Hyundai action, bringing the total number of affected vehicles to nearly 250,000.

Both automakers are grappling with a severe fuel system fault that has raised alarms regarding passenger safety across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Immediate details on the kia 141k vehicle recall

According to the NHTSA safety report, this specific intervention affects approximately 141,032 vehicles due to a persistent fuel system fault. Official documentation from the agency confirms that “fuel may leak at the connection between the fuel pipe and the fuel rail.

The kia 141k vehicle recall predominantly impacts Kia Carnival minivans from model years 2022 to 2026. While Kia remains a popular choice for families, this mechanical oversight requires urgent attention to mitigate any engine fire risk.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners beginning 2 June. However, drivers can proactively check if their specific vehicle is included by searching their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the agency’s website starting 24 April. Owners with urgent questions can contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and reference recall number SC368.

Hyundai and Genesis: Adding to the engine fire risk

In a parallel move that compounds the urgency of the kia 141k vehicle recall, Hyundai is voluntarily recalling more than 94,000 Genesis vehicles. This action is driven by a suspected fuel system fault that could significantly increase the engine fire risk for luxury car owners.
The Genesis recall affects several high-end models, including:

  • GV70: Model years 2022 to 2026
  • G90: Model years 2023 to 2025
  • G80 and GV80: Model years 2021 to 2025

The NHTSA safety report noted that Hyundai Motor America determined the crossover fuel pipe linking the left and right fuel rails may have been fitted with retention fasteners that can gradually loosen over time.

Investigation into the fuel system fault

The potential engine fire risk first came to light in July 2024, when two U.S. customers reported a “fuel-like smell and visible leakage.” This report eventually triggered the wider kia 141k vehicle recall as investigators delved into the assembly process.

Technical documents explain that the fasteners were “installed with too little torque at the fuel rail connections during assembly.” Consequently, the clamping force can weaken over time, which increases the likelihood of a leak. By following the guidelines in the NHTSA safety report, the manufacturers hope to rectify these assembly errors before any serious incidents occur.

Protecting your family during the kia 141k vehicle recall

Safety must remain the priority for all motorists. If your vehicle falls within the scope of the kia 141k vehicle recall, do not delay your inspection. A fuel system fault is a serious mechanical failure that can lead to a sudden engine fire risk while the vehicle is in motion or parked. Ensure you follow the instructions provided in the NHTSA safety report and contact your local dealership to secure your free repair.
