Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidiomo) has launched a digital literacy training programme in Oyo State. This initiative aims to bridge the technology gap for residents in the Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency.
By partnering with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the lawmaker is providing young people with the essential tools needed to thrive in our modern, technology-driven economy.
Bridging the Gap with Digital Competencies
The programme caters to 210 beneficiaries selected from across the state. It is meticulously structured into two distinct phases to ensure maximum learning impact. The first phase involved an intensive online segment held from Monday, April 13, to Friday, April 17, 2026.
This foundation allows participants to grasp theoretical concepts before transitioning to the practical stage.
The second phase, consisting of physical, hands-on digital competencies training, is currently underway.
This session runs from Monday, April 20, to Friday, April 24, 2026. These sessions are designed to move beyond basic theory. Instead, they focus on real-time applications that help participants master modern tools for personal and professional growth.
Empowering Youth Through Sustainable Empowerment
Representing Hon. Olajide, his senior legislative assistant, Hon. Kunle Folarin, emphasised the importance of this mission. He noted the urgent need to address the digital divide and create lasting prospects for young constituents.
“The programme aligns with ongoing efforts to empower constituents with practical skills capable of enhancing employability and fostering entrepreneurship,” Hon. Folarin stated during the event.
The curriculum is tailored to help participants unlock potential in high-growth sectors. Attendees are exploring viable opportunities in remote work, digital marketing, and various technology-driven enterprises. By focusing on these specific areas, the training aims to equip young people with a competitive edge in a global market that increasingly demands high-level technical proficiency.
Practical Support for Long-Term Success
Hon. Olajide understands that learning requires resources. To ensure this initiative achieves sustainable empowerment, every participant will receive high-quality training materials. The package includes new laptops and essential cash support. These provisions are designed to aid their seamless transition into productive, income-generating ventures immediately upon the completion of the programme.
The beneficiaries have welcomed the initiative with great enthusiasm. Many participants lauded the programme as both timely and deeply impactful, especially given the current economic climate. One attendee described the intervention as a model for community development, noting that it is “capable of transforming beneficiaries into self-reliant contributors to the economy.”
This intervention represents a significant step forward for Oyo State. By investing in the digital future of its youth, the federal constituency is setting a standard for proactive, skill-based governance that provides real solutions to complex economic challenges.
