The historic city of Ogbomoso came alive as golf enthusiasts from across Nigeria gathered for the second edition of the Oba Ghandi Golf Tournament, held at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club.

The event attracted participants from renowned golf clubs, including Abeokuta, Tiger Ibadan, Ada, and DG T Ilorin. This year’s tournament forms a key part of the inaugural Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, an event designed to celebrate the city’s rich cultural heritage and promote local tourism.

Oba Ghandi, who performed the ceremonial tee-off, praised the leadership of the Ogbomoso Recreation Club for their dedication to maintaining world-class facilities.

Dr. Oladejo Akanni, co-chairman of the Carnival Committee, described the tournament as a milestone in fostering unity and excellence through sports. “The camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed during this tournament were truly inspiring. We look forward to greater participation in the next edition,” he said.

The festivities continue later today at Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, with a football competition for the blind and a stage play by prominent actors.
