The cultural ties between Brazil and the Yoruba heritage were further strengthened on June 16, 2025, as the Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, received a delegation of Brazilian Ifa worshippers in his office.

The delegation from Ijo Ifa Ogbe Oweyin Asíko Laye Templo, Brazil, currently on a pre-tour to Ekiti State in preparation for a larger visit scheduled for September, included George Drives (Ifakunle), Reginald (Ifatola), Wale Orotoye, and Champion. Their visit was to pay a courtesy call to the Director-General and begin planning their upcoming cultural and spiritual exploration.

Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre warmly welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. He emphasised the Yoruba religion’s deep spiritual and historical roots in Ekiti, noting that many revered Yoruba deities—including Osun, Ogun, Ifa, and Esu—have their origins in the state.

During the visit, George Drives (Ifakunle), the custodian of an Ifa temple in Brazil, expressed his joy at being in Ekiti. He shared his deep reverence for Yoruba culture and spirituality. He noted that his visit was part of preparations for a more extensive trip in September, during which members of his temple will accompany him.

Ambassador Ojo-Lanre assured the visitors of their safety and comfort throughout their stay. Using a detailed map, he also gave them an overview of Ekiti State’s key tourism sites. Subsequently, he directed the Special Assistant on Tourism, Mr. Michael Peculiar Ekiran, to guide them to the Ogun Grove in Ire-Ekiti.
