Nigeria’s first social media website, 2geda, was recently launched amidst glitz and glamour. The founder, Smith Emeka Eze, popularly known as Internet Lord, shares the inspiration and vision behind the platform in this interview.
What inspired you to create 2geda, and what specific gaps in the current market were you hoping to address?
I created 2geda to empower Nigerian youths through equitable access to social media, education, career guidance, and global opportunities.
Inspired by my early struggles and the misuse of technology, I envisioned a positive, inclusive digital space. 2geda bridges gaps caused by geography, limited resources, and scattered information. With the support of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, and other visionary leaders, we have built a trusted platform that fosters growth, connection, and transformation.
What differentiates 2geda from existing social media networks?
2geda stands out as the world’s first purpose-driven platform that blends social networking with business, education, faith, and human rights.
Unlike others, we prioritise value over virality, offering real opportunities, not just likes or trends.
It’s a homegrown digital ecosystem built for growth, not distraction.
On 2geda, your complete identity, including cultural, professional, and spiritual values, is celebrated and supported.
What unique features or philosophies do you incorporate?
We integrate features for business promotion, mentorship, faith-based content, education, entertainment, and human rights awareness all in one platform.
Our model prioritises community empowerment over vanity metrics, placing impact above popularity.
Everything we build is guided by God, growth, and genuine connection, not just technology.
What strategies are you employing to enhance user experience and ensure that users feel a genuine connection on your platform?
We prioritise authentic engagement through localised content, community-driven features, and verified interest groups. Our platform is built to listen first, with feedback loops and user-led innovation guiding every update.
We design tools that serve a purpose, from mentorship hubs to spiritual spaces, so users feel seen, not sold to. Most importantly, we foster a culture of respect, impact, and unity, making every user feel they truly belong on 2geda.
What role does community building play in your platform’s development, and how do you intend to foster meaningful interactions among users?
Community is the heartbeat of 2geda; we’re not just building a platform, we’re building a community of people.
We design features that spark real conversations, not just comments, forums, mentorship circles, and local hubs.
Our moderators and ambassadors are trained to nurture safe, respectful, and purpose-driven spaces, Through events, challenges, and shared missions, we turn users into contributors and connectors, not just spectators.
In today’s digital age, privacy concerns are paramount. What measures are you implementing to protect user data and enhance privacy on your platform?
At 2geda, user trust is sacred, so we built the platform with data privacy at its core, not as an afterthought.
We use end-to-end encryption, strict access controls, and local data compliance to protect user information. Our policies are transparent and user-first, with no third-party exploitation.
In a world full of digital noise, we choose protection, not profit, because privacy is power.
As a social media platform, how do you plan to address issues of content moderation, misinformation, and online harassment?
On 2geda we combine AI moderation with human oversight to tackle misinformation and harmful content swiftly.
We’ve built a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, backed by real-time reporting tools and trained community managers.
Content is guided by Nigerian values, truth, and responsibility, not just what’s viral. Our goal is to create a safe, truthful, and uplifting space where freedom doesn’t come at the cost of dignity.
What is your monetisation strategy for the platform, and how do you plan to balance profitability with user satisfaction?
2Geda’s monetisation focuses on ethical revenue streams, ads from verified brands, premium tools for businesses, and value-based subscriptions.
We avoid intrusive ads and prioritise user experience over quick profit, ensuring the platform remains clean and purpose-driven.
Creators and entrepreneurs can also earn directly through in-app promotions and live streams, as well as stereo, TV, and other features. Our mission is clear: profit with purpose, where growth never compromises trust or user satisfaction.
How do you see the future of social media evolving, and how is your platform preparing to adapt to these changes?
Social media is shifting from noise to meaning; people crave authenticity, value, and community over vanity metrics. The future is decentralised, transparent, and impact-driven, and 2geda is already aligned with that movement. We’re building for adaptive technology, rooted in timeless values of faith, purpose, and connection.
2geda isn’t just following trends; we’re shaping the next chapter of social media with soul.
What processes do you have in place to gather user feedback, and how will that feedback influence the platform’s development?
At 2geda, user voices are our blueprint. We collect feedback through in-app surveys, community forums, and direct support channels.
We have a dedicated team that reviews input and translates it into actionable updates and features. Every major platform decision goes through a “community-first” lens, ensuring we build with users, not just for them.
To us, feedback isn’t a suggestion—it’s a partnership in progress.
Looking forward, what is your long-term vision for the platform, and where do you see it in the next five years?
In five years, I see 2geda as Africa’s leading purpose-driven digital ecosystem, connecting millions through faith, innovation, and opportunity.
We’ll be powering education, entrepreneurship, and social impact across borders, with local relevance and global reach. Our platform will serve as a launchpad for dreams, not just a space for content.
Long-term, 2geda isn’t just a tech brand. It’s a movement of unity, growth, and God-given potential.
