A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, has welcomed delegates and party stakeholders arriving in Ibadan for the 2025 PDP National Convention, expressing confidence that the gathering will mark a significant turning point for the party.
Wolekanle, who is also the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, stated that Ibadan is fully prepared to host a successful convention, adding that the event’s outcomes would reposition the PDP as a stronger, more united, and people-focused political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that the choice of Ibadan as the host city reflects the party’s recognition of Oyo State’s growing political stability under Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as the state’s reputation for accommodating major national political events.
According to him, the convention offers the party an opportunity to renew its structures, strengthen internal democracy, and chart a new direction that can restore public confidence.
Wolekanle urged delegates to approach the convention with unity of purpose, stressing that the PDP must emerge from Ibadan 2025 more cohesive and better prepared to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.
