Abuja Airport Closure: NTDC Boss Satifies Kaduna Airport Ready For Use by Tourists

THE Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs. Mariel Rae-Omoh, said the level of overhaul at the Kaduna International Airport is very reassuring, consequently the air terminal is prepared for use.

Rae-Omoh, who visited the airport on Tuesday, in company of the six-man committee she set up to work on how to ensure easy and safe travel experience for both foreign and domestic tourists, commended the conciliatory endeavors of the Federal Government and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for guaranteeing the airplane terminal was prepared as guaranteed.

It will be recalled that the Minister of State for Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika, declared that Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja would be shut for six weeks for aggregate repairs on the runaway.

In the same vein, the Minster of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, during a World News Conference organided by the ministry in Abuja on Monday that the airport would be closed March 8, 2017.

The NTDC Boss in a brief meeting with the Manager of the Kaduna International Airport, Amina Ozisalami, sought for the support of the airport management to set up a Tourism I formation Desks at the arrival and departure halls NTDC, through which the Corporation will, promote tourist assets in Nigeria to both the foreign and domestic tourists.

Ozisalami in her response commended the commitment of Mrs. Rae-Omoh to tourism promotion and development in Nigeria, which according to her, propelled the NTDC boss to visit the airport to ascertain it’s readiness for use, while the Abuja airport runaway is being repaired.

Her words: “We cannot do it alone. We must synergies with other agencies. And against the speculation of many that we would not meet up, i can assure foreign and domestic tourist that the terminal is beautifully upgraded. The development and upgrading of the Kaduna airport is for the good of the country

Speaking with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Cultureand Tourism Kaduna State , Alhaji Musa Adamu, the NTDC boss appreciated the Kaduna State Government support to the Corporation, while requesting for additional office space for staff of the NTDC liaison which will promote greater collaboration between the two agencies.
The NTDC Boss also inspected some hotels in Kaduna to ascertain the readiness of the hotels to receive the expected tourist traffic to Kaduna.
