As the deadline for the submission of political party registers to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) looms, a prominent contender for the Oyo State governorship, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has launched a high-stakes mobilisation drive to digitise the party’s rank and file.
Olajide, who currently represents the Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency in the House of Representatives, spent the weekend traversing several local government areas. His mission: to ensure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not caught off-guard by INEC’s increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.
Strengthening the Internal Machinery
During a series of marathon meetings with party stakeholders and ward executives, the lawmaker framed the ongoing digital registration exercise as the “backbone” of the party’s future electoral success.
“Ensuring that our membership register is accurate and comprehensive is fundamental to sustaining our democratic processes and positioning our electoral base for success at the polls,” Olajide told supporters.
Olajide also commended the leadership of the PDP in the state for sustaining internal cohesion and maintaining strong party structures across wards and local governments.
According to him, the party’s continued relevance in the political landscape of the state is as a result of its strong grassroots appeal and commitment to democratic governance.
The lawmaker, while calling on party leaders at ward, local government and state levels to intensify awareness campaigns to ensure that no eligible member is left out of the registration process before the INEC deadline, expressed confidence that with sustained mobilization among party members, the PDP would remain a dominant political force in Oyo state.
