In an official letter marked Ref. SP/S.663/2/VOL. III/436 and addressed directly to the Speaker of the House, the governor called for a thorough and expeditious process. The state government looks to maintain its current administrative momentum through these appointments.
Governor Seyi Makinde Seeks Legislative Backing
The communication from the executive arm emphasizes adherence to democratic protocols. Governor Seyi Makinde noted that the decision aligns with national legal frameworks governing state appointments.
The letter read in part:
“I write to notify the Honourable Speaker and Members of the House of my desire to present the following individuals for screening and confirmation for appointment as Commissioners in our State:
- Dr Lateef Idowu OYELEKE
- Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun OJO.
“This nomination is in compliance with the provisions of section 192 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).”
Assembly Prepared for Screening and Confirmation
The legislature is now set to deliberate on the presentation. With governance priorities mounting, lawmakers are expected to table the request during the next plenary session.
The governor expressed strong confidence in the lawmakers’ ability to treat the matter with urgency.

Dr Oyeleke is a former Commissioner for Environment, while Ojo served as a Member of the House of Assembly representing Saki East/Atisbo State Constituency.
