Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has officially forwarded the names of two new Oyo State commissioner nominees to the Oyo State House of Assembly for swift screening and confirmation.

The executive move aims to fill vital roles within the state cabinet and push forward the administration’s development agenda.

In an official letter marked Ref. SP/S.663/2/VOL. III/436 and addressed directly to the Speaker of the House, the governor called for a thorough and expeditious process. The state government looks to maintain its current administrative momentum through these appointments.

The communication from the executive arm emphasizes adherence to democratic protocols. Governor Seyi Makinde noted that the decision aligns with national legal frameworks governing state appointments.

“I write to notify the Honourable Speaker and Members of the House of my desire to present the following individuals for screening and confirmation for appointment as Commissioners in our State:

  1. Dr Lateef Idowu OYELEKE
  2. Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun OJO.

“This nomination is in compliance with the provisions of section 192 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).”

Assembly Prepared for Screening and Confirmation

The legislature is now set to deliberate on the presentation. With governance priorities mounting, lawmakers are expected to table the request during the next plenary session.

The governor expressed strong confidence in the lawmakers’ ability to treat the matter with urgency.

The letter continued: “It is my hope that the process for the screening and approval of the nominees will receive the usual kind and expeditious consideration of the Honourable Speaker and Members of the House.

“Please accept the assurances of my personal regards.”

Profiles of the New Oyo State Commissioner Nominees

The two individuals chosen for these cabinet positions bring notable public service experience to the table. Both nominees are familiar faces in the political landscape of the state.

Dr Oyeleke is a former Commissioner for Environment, while Ojo served as a Member of the House of Assembly representing Saki East/Atisbo State Constituency.

The statement, released on May 26, 2026, was signed by Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Special Adviser (Media) to Oyo State Governor.
