Paris Saint-Germain’s difficult Start to the 2026/27 campaign continued on Friday as the European champions suffered a 2-1 defeat to AS Monaco, leaving Luis Enrique’s side without a Ligue 1 victory after their opening three matches.
The defeat extended PSG’s winless run to four games in all competitions, while Monaco maintained their perfect start under Brazilian head coach Filipe Luís.
PSG’s Last Four Games
PSG have struggled to find consistency since their defeat to Lens in the French Super Cup.
- 1-0 loss vs Lens
- 2-2 draw vs Rennes
- 2-2 draw vs Lille
- 2-1 loss vs Monaco
The sequence leaves PSG without a Ligue 1 win after three matches. Their two draws against Rennes and Lille were followed by Friday’s defeat at home to Monaco.
Filipe Luís’ Perfect Start With Monaco
While PSG are searching for answers, Monaco are enjoying a remarkable beginning under Filipe Luís.
The Brazilian coach has won all five of his competitive matches since taking charge:
- 3-2 vs Górnik Zabrze
- 1-0 vs Le Havre
- 4-1 vs Górnik Zabrze
- 2-0 vs Marseille
- 2-1 vs PSG
That perfect run includes two wins over Górnik Zabrze in the Conference League qualifiers and Ligue 1 victories against Le Havre, Marseille and PSG. Monaco’s 2-1 comeback in Paris also moved them to the top of Ligue 1 with three wins from three.
Monaco Turn the Tables on PSG
PSG took the lead through Marquinhos in the first half, but Monaco responded after the break through Flávio Nazinho and Stanis Idumbo to complete a 2-1 comeback.
The result creates a striking contrast between the two sides.
PSG: Four games without a win.
Monaco: Five straight competitive victories.
For Luis Enrique, the challenge is now to quickly turn PSG’s early-season momentum around. For Filipe Luís, meanwhile, the perfect start has put Monaco firmly in the spotlight.
