AN aspirant for the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Ogun State in the 2019 House of Representatives election, Otunba Badejo Adewale Abayomi (OBAA), has said that the fuss over direct and indirect primaries by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) should not be allowed to tear the party apart because the APC constitution accommodate both election processes.

Otunba Badejo said both processes are applicable to all state chapters of the party but the adaptability of any of either direct or indirect primaries depends on the situation on ground in each state.

He gave kudos to the leadership of the APC for giving members opportunity of making choices that will reduce selection difficulties with the aim of picking most credible candidates capable of winning elections for the party in 2019.

“The constitution of the APC approves  both consensus or indirect primary as well as the direct option. But for members of the party to have a say in who represents them and to contribute to the process of picking their representatives, the direct primary will be ideal. But, considering the logistics involved and the cumbersome process of the direct primary, I suggest a consensus candidacy or indirect primary option as the case may be”.

Speaking on his chances through the party, he said the impressive performance of the Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, will pave ways for most aspirants, including himself, seeking elective positions on the platform of the APC.

Otunba Badejo said the many unprecedented infrastructural projects of the Amosun-led APC administration in the state has engraved APC in the mind of the people of Ogun State as the party to follow and vote for in coming elections across all positions from the federal to local government.

“I can categorically say that since the return of democracy in Nigeria, Ogun State has never had the type of the incumbent governor. It is obvious that Governor Amosun has transformed the entire state with equitable project distribution across the three senatorial districts of our state. His development strides are unequalled in the state and he has groomed seasoned administrators that are ready to continue to develop the state where he will stop in May 2019 when he shall be completing his two terms administration”.

Otunba Badejo whose campaign slogan is “Hope of the less privilege ones” said he is ready to give adequate and beneficial representation to the people of Ijebu Central more than has been done by previous representatives of the constituency if given the opportunity.

“It is a pity that our people has not gotten enough dividends of democracy from past and present representatives. I am going to the House of Representatives to tap every available opportunity that belong to our constituency and give to our people accordingly.

“Though I have done a lot to empower people in the three local governments of Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode and Ijebu North East, I will continue as a federal lawmaker to deploy my resources to empower the aged persons, market women, widows and artisans with a view of making life easy and affordable for them”.

The aspirant said going by his past antecedents of philanthropism, through the Otunba Asalu Foundation, he has the assurance of winning the APC ticket and coming victorious in the election because his activities and love cut across party lines.

“My confidence rest on what I am to my people and what I have done in the past. I have empowered over 100 hairdressers with driers, 100 barbers with barbing equipments, giving about 100 grinding machines to empower women, providing 20 motorcycles to youth for transportation business and giving scholarship to students at various level of education, provided security patrol van to the Odogbolu Security apparatus and an L300 bus to the Alaye-in-council traditional institution of Odogbolu. While politically, I renovated the APC party offices in the he three local governments under my constituency; to mention but a few”.
