FRONTLINE Presidential aspirant under the platform of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has assured that the party would implement a New Economic Development Programme (NEDP) that would lead to the expansion of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product GDP to 4 trillion dollars within a space of ten years if voted as the president of the nation.
He disclosed this while receiving nomination and expression of interest form at the Party’s secretariat on Wednesday in Abuja, adding that the NEDP will also increase the Per Capital Income PCI of the average Nigerian to between 16,000 to 18,000 US Dollars.
The presidential aspirant while saying that the NEDP which would target an estimated 2 trillion naira US dollars into infrastructure within ten years, explained that it would as well create jobs from manufacturing, industrialisation and link up industries with solid minerals and agricultural sector.
“This development obviously will make Nigeria to be at par with middle income countries like Malaysia, with whom we had comparable income level at independence”, Olawepo added.
Speaking further on the current state of the economy, Olawepo noted that though President Muhammadu Buhari has tried his best but he still needs to resign decently.
According to him: “I respect President Muhammadu Buhari as a father. He is our Baba and we are his children. I will not insult him because we don’t insult people as a party and where I come from. But the truth is, President Buhari needs to go and rest. ANN is practically prepared to give him a befitting rest.
Adding: “I am therefore better placed to bring the country back together and most assured that I can get the job done given my record of accomplishment. I will restructure the economy from a dependent one to a self reliant one, by investing in iron and steel, research and development, and in other critical sectors of the economy”.
He equally said that the Agricultural sector would be integrated with the industrial and solid minerals torn to create sustainable jobs for youths employment will be accelerated through the promotion of innovation and the knowledge economy.
Olawepo attributed many challenges confronting the nation to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress APC, saying that “the party lack some certain skill to correct things.
