The National Association of Nigerian Comrades (NANC) has appointed Comrade Esan Oyeniyi as its Director of Information Strategy and Public Communications, in a move aimed at strengthening the association’s media presence, information management and public engagement.
The appointment was conveyed in an official letter dated November 6, 2026, signed by the National President, Comrade Johnclaude Peter, on behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC).
The letter said Oyeniyi was chosen for his competence, loyalty, commitment to comradeship and demonstrated capacity in information management, media strategy and public communications.
NANC Director of Information Strategy: role and responsibilities
Oyeniyi is expected to serve as chief custodian of the association’s public image, information flow and media strategy, and to develop and implement policies that strengthen NANC’s communication structure at national and state levels.
His duties will include:
- supervising the association’s official communication platforms;
- coordinating media relations;
- preparing press statements, communiqués and public announcements;
- ensuring effective publicity for NANC’s national programmes and activities.
He will also coordinate and guide the Directors of Information in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with emphasis on media ethics, information verification and responsible public communication.
Working with the media and NANC leadership
The appointment places Oyeniyi at the centre of NANC’s relationship with journalists, media organisations, bloggers and other stakeholders in the communications industry. He is expected to work closely with the National President, the National Secretary, the Director of Protocol and the NEC to ensure timely, accurate and authorised dissemination of information.
Terms of the appointment
The appointment takes immediate effect and runs for an initial two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and the NEC’s determination. The position is voluntary, though the appointee is entitled to allowances approved by the NEC for official assignments.
Congratulating him, Peter expressed confidence that Oyeniyi would justify the trust placed in him. “The struggle for the voiceless needs a strong voice, and we have chosen you to be that voice,” he said in the letter.
NANC strengthens its institutional structure
The appointment comes as NANC seeks to strengthen its institutional structures and reposition its advocacy around issues affecting students, unemployed graduates, young workers and other Nigerians facing social and economic challenges.
Oyeniyi is expected to help build a more coordinated, visible and effective communication system that projects the association’s ideals, advocacy and interventions to a wider Nigerian audience.
