The Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria has commend the effort of the South West Governors in setting up “Operation Amotekun”, recently launched in Ibadan.
According to a release, signed by the South-West Regional of the group, Casey Samuel Idowu, “this shows that our governors are sensitive to the plight of their people and are ready to do everything possible to secure the lives and properties of their people as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.”
The group added that “The Western Security Network Outfit code-named, “Operation Amotekun” will complement the efforts of other security agencies in curbing the region of crimes and criminalities and provide a crime-free region conducive for learning and living. Security is everybody’s business; therefore, the initiative must be encouraged and supported by the people.
“We must not play with the welfare of the people, especially the security of lives and properties. If politics is local as they say, security is much more. Every Nigerian must be security conscious, ready to assist in providing security and prevent crime in our communities, schools and states. This initiative will go a long way in promoting economic development, reduce crime fear and encourage investment in the region.
“The action of the governors and that of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) is commendable and will go a long way in promoting peace in the region.”
