According to the lawmaker, insecurity continues to threaten economic activities, education and social stability in several rural communities. He called for immediate collaboration among government, security agencies and local stakeholders to restore order.

“We cannot continue to allow criminal elements terrorise innocent citizens and destabilise our communities. Oyo State must remain safe and secure for everyone. The lives of our people are too precious to be sacrificed to insecurity and lawlessness,” he stated.

Lawmakers Review Oyo State Security Situation

The lawmaker advocated for stronger intelligence gathering, community policing and a modern security architecture designed to track criminal networks and prevent future occurrences.

Hon. Olajide noted that contemporary security challenges require proactive measures, including digital surveillance systems, communication tracking mechanisms and improved inter-agency collaboration among security institutions.

He stated that technology must serve as the foundation for modern policing frameworks, particularly in vulnerable border communities and rural educational institutions.

“As Chairman of the House Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, I strongly believe technology must play a central role in addressing kidnapping and violent crimes. We must strengthen intelligence systems and deploy modern tools capable of exposing and dismantling these criminal networks,” he added.

Implementation of Modern Security Architecture Urged

The federal lawmaker commiserated with affected families and residents of the community, stating that their security concerns would receive direct legislative attention.

He called on security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure that perpetrators of the crime are apprehended and prosecuted without delay.

Local residents and community leaders who met with the delegation requested an increased security presence within the area, specifically around schools and vulnerable rural settlements. They expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of empathy and responsive leadership during a difficult time for the community.
