Court Jails Popular Nigerian Prophet, 5 Others Over Missing Child

An Akure, Ondo State High Court, on Tuesday,  sentenced a popular prophet, Alfa Babatunde and five others to life imprisonment having been found guilty of child kidnapping of a one-year-old child, Gold Kolawole from the church.

They were found guilty on two-count charges bordering on kidnapping, aiding and abetting to kidnap preferred against them.

Justice Olusegun Odusola said the prosecution proved circumstantial evidence against the accused persons.

Other defendants jailed include Omodara Olayinka, Margaret Oyebola, Grace Ogunjobi, Egunjobi Motunrayo, and Esther Kayode.

Ondo State government and the state security service had arraigned Pastor Babatunde in court on Monday, December 23, 2019 accusing him of culpability in the mysterious disappearance of Gold. He was said to have conspired with some of his church workers to perpetrate the evil act.
