The head office of National Pilot, an Ilorin-based newspaper owned by the Saraki family in Kwara State, has been vandalised by the hoodlums.

The bi-weekly publication was established by the political family in the early 2000.

The office is located at Asa-Dam Road in the Kwara State capital.

It was gathered that the ravaging hoodlums currently on the loose in Ilorin, stormed the newspaper house on Friday evening and vandalised it.

COVID-19 Palliative Warehouse, Agro Mall, Shoprite and other privately owned businesses have been looted by the hoodlums, forcing the state government to impose a 24-hour curfew on the state.

The Managing Director of the newspaper, Billy Adedamola in a terse statement on Saturday hinted that the office was vandalised by men of the underworld.

He accompanied the statement with pictures of shattered windows and broken chairs and among others.

Adedamola, a former Media Aide to former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, said the attack took place at 6:30pm.

The veteran journalist said he alongside his workers unhurt through the back streets of the office.

“National Pilot was attacked by the rampaging hoodlums in Ilorin yesterday. We thank God , however that no one was hurt. I drove my staff out of the office at about 6.30 pm. when the threat of attack against us was becoming more glaring. I left after I had ensured all my staff had been safely evacuated.

“I took the back streets to get home. So were the staff. After our departure, the hoodlums set a bonfire at the front of our office and later vandalized part of it,” Adedamola said.
