Policemen from Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 70-year-old man, Hunsu Sunday, for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old granddaughter (name withheld) and impregnating her.
Reporters At Large learnt that the septuagenarian was arrested on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
In a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, it was gathered that the grandfather was exposed and nabbed when the teenager’s aunty lodged a report at Ado-Odo police station that the victim told her that constantly, her grandfather had been abusing her sexually, until lately when she started having funny feeling in her body.
The girl was said to have been living with the grandfather since her mother died.
The PPRO said that the report made the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ado-Odo police station, SP Michael Arowojeun to send detectives to the scene, where the old man was arrested.
Oyeyemi stated: “when interrogated, the suspect confessed to having carnal knowledge of his granddaughter, but claimed that he didn’t know that the victim is pregnant.
“The victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment.”
The PPRO added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
