Court Sentences Bricklayer To 12-Year Imprisonment For Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl

A magistrates’ court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, sentenced a 34-year-old bricklayer, Oyedokun Tunde, to 12 years imprisonment for defiling a 13-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that, “the victim got pregnant but lost the baby.”

The prosecutor, who said the offence committed by the convict, stated that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 218 and 222 of Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol ll, Law of Osun State, 2002.

Fagboyinbo said Oyedokun committed the offence sometime in April 2019 at Balogun Street, Omigade Area in Osogbo.

He added that “the offence committed by the convict was contrary to and punishable under Section 218 and 222 of Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol ll, Law of Osun State, 2002.”

In her judgment, Magistrate Modupe Awodele said the convict was guilty as charged, just as she sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment.

Magistrate Awodele said the evidence presented before the court by the prosecution was tenable and found the convict guilty.
