One of the fastest-growing agricultural companies, UMéRA, seems not to relent when it comes to products related to Agriculture. In a recent press conference, the company explained that the Starch content of cassava breeds varies, and the TME 419 is better than the Nigeria local breeds called Oko-Iyawo.

According to the company CEO, Mrs Olamide Alabi Jacobs, the local Oko-Iyawo breed takes a period of 18 months to be harvested, while the Starch Octave breed takes just 8months to be harvested. More so, it has more weight than the local Oko-Iyawo breed at the time of harvest.

Since the UméRa Agriculture company started within one year, they have planted over 500acres of cassava.

In the 1st quarter of 2021, the Nigerian Agricultural sector, being the highest, already contributed 22.35% to the Nigerian economy. UMéRA CEO advised farmers to invest more in agriculture and Agricultural technology, because all aspects of farming are economically productive. “Due to the consistent demand for food, as everyone must eat.”

She also stated that one needs to understand the market, it can be high or low in price, but according to her, that no matter the market, the agricultural business is still always in line.

The UméRa Agriculture company CEO also made it known that cassava is beyond the level of garri, fufu, and elubo. She reiterated that it is also used for industrial production because of its starch, ethanol and sorbitol content. So it is being used in food production and non-food production.

Her words: “Agriculture farming cuts across, it is not only about the production alone. Also, there are many areas in which people can make passive income from it. The value chain of farming is so large, such as the tractor man makes money; the food seller, water seller, the blacksmith who makes the hoes and cutlasses, even banks for saving money and so on.”
