The general manager of Ekiti State Sports Council, Mrs Olusola Osetoba has commended the donor and sponsor of the grassroots soccer tournament designed for the 16 local governments in the state, Otunba Demola Popoola for investing in the lives of the Ekiti Youths, using football.
The general manager made this call while speaking with the newsmen after watching the games involving Bridge water of Oye Local Government against Yemkem FC of Efon Local government in the ongoing tournaments inside Oluyemi Kayode Stadium Ado-Ekiti where she made a kickoff.
She described ODEP’s gesture as a welcome development and a catalyst to youth restiveness rocking the society while calling on other well-meaning individuals in Ekiti State to further see sports as a good means to engage youths positively.
Meanwhile, the deputy director of ODEP Foundation Hon Adedipe Isiaka Adedara, who represented the donor during the opening ceremony of the tournament, has announced that football lovers in Ekiti metropolis can win lofty gift items and cash prizes in a predict and win promo designed as part of efforts to further empowers the youths through the competition.
“As part of an effort to further empowers our youths and football lovers, lofty prizes such as mobile phones, clippers, hand-dryers and cash can win by visiting the social media handle of ODEP Unity Cup and submit prediction about all the matches, and winners will be picked and the end of the preliminaries,” said Hon Adedipe.
