Two governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State have kicked against the appointment of Wale Ohu, as the head of the party’s electoral panel in the primaries.
This is just as Governor Dapo Abiodun clinched the party’s governorship ticket at the primaries held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, on Thursday.
The aggrieved aspirants – Abdulkabir Akinlade and Biyi Otegbeye – questioned the credibility of the electoral panel, led by Ohu and the delegate list used for the exercise.
Abiodun contested the primaries with five other aspirants, Abdulkabir Akinlade, Biyi Otegbeye, Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, Owodunni Opayemi and Remi Bakare.
Abiodun polled a total of 1,168 votes to defeat his other contestants who scored no vote.
The party adopted the indirect primary as the mode of election.
The exercise was conducted by the five-man electoral panel and monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Mrs Ogundana Helen.
Ohu announced Abiodun as the winner of the election after delegates drawn from the 236 wards of 20 local government areas of the state cast their votes.
According to Ohu, 1,180 delegates were accredited for the election.
“Prince Adedapo Abiodun, having scored the highest majority vote cast is hereby declared the winner of the APC governorship primary election in Ogun state and he is hereby declared the governorship candidate of APC to stand in the 2023 governorship election in the state”, Ohu said.

The governor promised to continue with a massive turnaround of the state with various infrastructural development.
He appreciated the people of the state for their continuous support and prayers.
The governor also commended the electoral committee from the national headquarters, saying that they have conducted a free and fair election.
