SP Daniel Itse Amah is the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Nasarawa Division in Kano State. He takes charge of happenings in his jurisdiction, just like any other officer in the same position as him.

But he has positively marked himself out as a distinguished, professional, gallant, conscientious cop who suppresses the urge to go against the law he is supposed to enforce. He looked away from what could have been his personal needs and shunned the lure of amassing criminal wealth. He rejected a bribe of $200,000 to cover up for criminals.

His commendable act has earned him praise from the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, along with two other officers from across the nation, who have been exemplary in their lines of duty.

This move is in line with IGP’s mandate to apply the carrot-and-stick approach to personnel conduct.

As a result, the IGP has directed the issuance of commendation certificates to the officers for distinguishing themselves in the face of numerous challenges in policing the nation effectively.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who made the IGP’s move known in a statement on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, said that SP Amah was commended explicitly for his integrity and exhibition of sound professionalism, leading to the arrest of an armed robbery syndicate despite being offered a bribe of $200,000 to look away, which he rejected.

The IGP also commended the gallantry of Inspector Ekene Ndukwu of the Imo State Police Command who successfully laid ambush and neutralised two members of a gang of bandits who stormed his house in the early hours of August 4.

The police Inspector, who was armed, shocked the bandits with heavy gunfire which repelled their attacks.

The IGP also eulogised Police Constable Nura Mande, attached to the Katsina State Police Command, for finding and returning an envelope containing $800 belonging to an intending pilgrim, an elderly woman, at the Hajj Camp, Katsina.

The Inspector-General of Police charged all officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to emulate the noble conduct of these exemplary members of the Force.

He also tasked the commended officers to continually exemplify good conduct, integrity, bravery and gallantry in the discharge of their policing responsibilities.
