REPORTERS AT LARGE report the recent gunmen attacks on the Ekiti communities, which resulted in the killing of two kings, while one managed to escape before the latest one.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, condemned the killing of the monarch as well as the abduction of his wife and two others, describing it as shocking, reckless, and abominable.

“Promising to make the killing of the monarch the gunmen’s “last crime against humanity,” the governor said that his government would ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.

The governor also instructed security agencies to allocate all available resources to locate the culprits, rescue the monarch’s spouse and other detained individuals, and prosecute them.

“My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” the governor said.

Also, the state commissioner of police, Victor Olaiya, assured that the command’s police operatives would take swift action against the criminals.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and entire community affected by this heinous act in a statement by police spokeswoman, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the police commissioner offered prayers for them on the current challenge.

“Immediate and intensive investigations are underway to apprehend those criminals for this reprehensible act.

“We assure the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.

“Security measures in the Koro community have been intensified; tactical teams are being mobilised to beef up security to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

“The CP has urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as we work tirelessly to unravel this matter and arrest and charge the culprits in court.

“The Kwara State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property,” the statement read.
