In a compelling speech at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ise Ekiti, Amb. Ojo-Lanre highlighted Ekiti State’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse tourism offerings. He emphasized the state’s reputation as the “Fountain of Knowledge” and the “Land of Honour,” inviting the Corps Members to explore and celebrate Ekiti’s unique attributes.

“Tourism development is a cornerstone of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s policy initiatives,” Amb. Ojo-Lanre said.

“As Corps Members representing Nigeria, it is essential that you become well-acquainted with the diverse tourism potentials of Ekiti State. By the end of your service, you will naturally become ambassadors for Ekiti’s tourism, thanks to your in-depth knowledge of the state’s rich tourism assets.

During the speech, Amb. Ojo-Lanre encouraged the Corps Members to savour the exceptional pounded yam, a culinary delight synonymous with Ekiti State. He also highlighted the state’s cultural heritage, natural wonders, and opportunities for community engagement, emphasizing the personal and professional benefits of exploring Ekiti’s tourism landscape.

Amb. Ojo-Lanre invited Corper Bernard Udensi and Mariam Ajibola, fellow Corps Members from Abia, and Osun States who are currently with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, to showcase some of the state’s notable tourism sites, including the cultural festivals in the state.

The Director General also encouraged the Corps Members to consider joining the NYSC Tourism Club, highlighting the club’s opportunities for leadership, skill development, and networking.

“Exploring new environments broadens your horizons, enhances problem-solving skills, and creates lasting memories,” Amb. Ojo-Lanre said. “These experiences will enrich both your personal and professional life.”

The speech received a warm response from the Corps Members, who expressed enthusiasm for discovering Ekiti State’s vibrant tourism offerings during their service year.

One of the corps members, Paul Kalu, commended the Bureau of Tourism Development for being diligent in service, adding that, the visit and engagement with corps members have banished the erroneous belief among members that Ekiti has no nightlife and no places to visit during the day except the Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, Ikogosi Ekiti.

He pointed out that the speeches made by Amb Ojo-Lanre, the thank you address by Mr. Peculiar Ikiran, Special Assignment, Tourism Development and the testimonies from the two corps members were tonics of hope that in Ekiti, service years would be interesting and exciting.
