The Oyy State Action Alliance (AA) gubernatorial candidate, Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo, has reaffirmed his commitment to the leadership of the state, declaring that he remains āthe most experienced person to serve the state.ā
Speaking on Thursday at the first SuccessFM Ibadan Public Square Town Hall Meeting for Oyo 2027 governorship election candidates, the former labour union leader made a passionate plea to the electorate. He urged the people of Oyo to elect credible and visionary leaders who are genuinely committed to good governance and fulfilling their promises to the public.
According to him, the future progress of Oyo State depends entirely on electing leaders with integrity, competence, and a genuine desire to serve the people. The retired Oyo State civil servant confirmed his absolute readiness to take the helm of governance.
He emphasised that his political ambition does not stem from selfish motives. Instead, it rests firmly on his proven competence, deep administrative experience, and clear capacity to deliver impactful governance to every corner of the state.
Proven Experience and Revenue Mobilisation Under Titilola-Sodo
A major pillar of his vision involves repositioning and strengthening the state’s internally generated revenue without imposing unnecessary burdens on ordinary citizens. The Action Alliance candidate reflected on his extensive background in public service, pointing out that decades of exposure to administrative leadership have deeply shaped his understanding of governance.
He recounted his key achievements while serving as Special Adviser on Labour Matters to the state government. During his tenure, he facilitated the payment of long-overdue backlogged salaries and pensions across the public sector. He also oversaw the swift implementation of key workers’ programmes specifically designed to improve overall welfare and productivity.
Local Government Autonomy and Infrastructure Development
Addressing administrative reforms, the governorship hopeful promised complete financial and operational autonomy for all local government councils. He vowed that resources meant for the grassroots will be deployed directly to benefit local communities, eliminating systemic diversions.
Furthermore, he stressed the urgent need for improved road networks across rural districts to unlock agricultural potential and drive industrial expansion. Titilola-Sodo noted that his approach to governance has always remained deeply rooted in direct service. He added that thousands of beneficiaries of his past interventions continue to express deep appreciation for those lasting impacts.
Inclusivity and State Police in Oyo State
On the broad issue of social inclusion, he advocated strongly for increased political opportunities for young people, women, and persons living with disabilities. He emphasised that competence must always take priority over political sentiment or sectional interests when appointing public officers.
Turning to the growing security challenges across the nation, Titilola-Sodo called for the immediate establishment of state police in Oyo State. He stated that this security measure would strengthen the overall ability of law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly to crimes and resolve local disputes right where they occur.
Closing his address with a stern warning to corrupt actors, he vowed to thoroughly review and revoke all state-owned properties that have been illegally sold off by past administrations.
