A sachet of water popularly called ‘pure water’ is now N20, while a bag of it (consisting of 20 matches) s N150 in Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, two sachets of the sachet water are sold for N30.
Speaking with Reporters At Large, a pure water seller in Area 1 of Abuja, Aliyu Garba, noted that the increase in the cost of a bag and iced blocks to make the water cold informed the increase in the satchet water.
Corroborating the claim was another pure water seller in Mararaba area of Nasarawa State, outskirts of Abuja, Muhammad Shehu, who decried the increase in the cost of a bag of the water.
Meanwhile, Reporters At Large gathered that a bag of pure water is sold for between N140 and N150 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State as well, though, a sachet is still N10.
Some residents of Abuja and its outskirts who spoke with Reporters At Large on the condition of anonymity disclosed their resolution to swap to the drinking of borehole water.
The Nigerian economy become hard daily. Prices of every essential commodity skyrocket uncontrollably and recklessly. Imagine a catcher of ‘pure water’ being told for N20. This is wickedness and ineptitude of the government of the day. Only God can safe us till 2023!”, an Abuja resident lamented.
