Former lawmaker Senator Ayo Arise has officially challenged the outcome of the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Ekiti North, filing a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The legal action follows the conclusion of the party primary, where Senator Cyril Fasuyi was declared the winner after polling 14,179 votes. Senator Arise finished as the runner-up with 4,886 votes.

Sources close to the Arise campaign in Ekiti indicated that the legal team is prepared for a robust and thoroughly funded court battle to contest the primary’s outcome. Insiders suggested that the camp is drawing strategic parallels to the 2019 legal challenge that ultimately altered the representation for Ekiti South, which prevented Senator Adedayo Adeyeye from serving out his term.
“We have mapped out concrete strategies to legally contest this outcome,” a source within the camp stated, noting that the legal team is prepared to exhaust all available constitutional avenues at the Federal High Court.
Reports also indicate that Arise’s strategists are leveraging broader political alignments within the state to strengthen their position as the case proceeds to a hearing.
