Justin, currently a senior at Suncoast High School, has set a record with his perfect SAT score and garnered attention from prestigious universities.

“I want to go to school in New England, hopefully, so those are my top choices right now,” Justin told CBS12.

He has received acceptance offers from several renowned institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard, and Princeton. As he contemplates his future, Justin aims to pursue a career in neurosurgery, showcasing a profound commitment to making a difference in medicine.

Beyond his academic prowess, Justin actively engages in extracurricular activities, demonstrating a holistic personal and intellectual development approach. His involvement in a national debate in Kentucky and his upcoming role as the president of the debate team at Suncoast High School exemplify his dedication to well-rounded growth.

Justin’s journey to academic perfection began with his first attempt at the SAT, where he effortlessly achieved a perfect score of 1600. Contrary to the standard narrative of intense preparation, Justin attributes his success to a more casual approach, having completed practice tests at school and home. His familiarity with test patterns gained through experiences like the PSAT contributed to his confident performance.

The impact of Justin’s perfect score resonates not only within his academic circles but also in the community. Riviera Beach Councilwoman Shirley Lanier honoured him during a city commission meeting, acknowledging his rare achievement. Justin’s family and community members have experienced various reactions, from admiration to seeking advice on improving their scores.

Despite his monumental achievement, Justin remains grounded and focused on his future endeavours. He sees his perfect SAT score as a significant step towards achieving his goals, especially getting into his top-choice universities. His decision to attend MIT’s Research Institute for a program focused on studying visual tension showcases his ongoing dedication to academic exploration.

As Justin looks forward to his senior year at Suncoast High School, he embraces the opportunities to lead and inspire. His story is not just about academic perfection but also about resilience, determination, and a commitment to making a positive impact. With his aspirations of attending top-tier universities and pursuing a career in neurosurgery, Justin Ricketts serves as a beacon of inspiration for students nationwide, demonstrating that excellence has no boundaries.

Aylah Birks, an 18-year-old high school senior from Twiggs County, recently won the prestigious Gates Scholarship. She is the first female and African-American student in her district to achieve this remarkable feat. Her journey is extraordinary, marked by academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service.

On her LinkedIn page, Aylah describes herself as a rising junior at Twiggs County High School, where she is also a dual enrollment student at Central Georgia Technical College. She excels in college-level English, mathematics, and cosmetology. Aylah is a member of numerous clubs, including the National Beta Club, FCCLA, FBLA, Youth Advisory Council, 21st Century Leaders, Drama Club, and Literacy Team. Notably, she made school history as the first member of the Junior Beta Club to attend the National Beta Club Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Aylah is a four-year marching band member of the Twiggs County Marching Cobras, serving in various leadership roles and earning recognition for her spirited dedication. She is also the Head Representative of Twiggs County for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference Macon-Bibb Chapter and a Justice for Girls organisation member, focusing on education about human sex trafficking.

On her 18th birthday, Aylah shared the exciting news on her LinkedIn page. She revealed that she is a three-time valedictorian at Twiggs County High School, a first-generation college student, and has received over $4.5 million in scholarship offers. Her achievements include being named a 2021 Gates Scholar and receiving acceptance letters from 113 U.S. universities.
