VICTOR Oluwadamilare, former Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Communications, Alhaji Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, has cautioned the minister to stop comparing himself to President Muhammadu Buhari in deeds and official capacity.

Oluwadamilare, who said this in a release he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abuja, maintained that: “Shittu’s lack of integrity and extreme love of money and avid quest for material acquisition using his position as a Minister in the Buhari administration.”

The release reads: “To say the least, I find it irresistible to react to the claim by the Minister of Communications, Alhaji Abdur – Raheem Adebayo Shittu that he is comparable to President Muhammadu Buhari in deeds and official capacity.”

While saying the Minister was quoted to have said in one of his interviews recently that, “I am a moralist, I am incorruptible and I try to take after my leader, my mentor, President Muhammadu Buhari and I do not do anything that l cannot justify,” Oluwadamilare said the Minister’s statements, to all intents and purposes, is to disparage the person of President Buhari and rubbish the Federal Government in the estimation of the public, particularly the international community, which is not unaware of Shittu’s lack of integrity and extreme love of money and avid quest for material acquisition using his position as a Minister in the Buhari administration.

The release reads further: “As someone who knows the Minister inside out, having worked closely with him as his Special Assistant on Media for 28 months, I stand in good stead to say that he is acutely economical with the truth.

“The Shittu that I know very well, is not in any way, comparable to the President in character and pedigree. In fact, they are miles apart in any comparative analysis. For instance, the whole world knows that most often, President is busy at his desk, finding solutions to Nigeria’s hydra-headed socio-political cum economic problems. On the flip side, his minister, Barrister Shittu, goes about carousing women. Though openly, it is haram for Shittu to shake hand with women, however, it is his major pastime to mingle with them secretly. To say the least, there is no basis for comparison between him and the highly respected President Buhari.

“President Buhari today is a super brand and a global ambassador of anti -corruption crusade, although some people in his cabinet are unfortunately not on the same page with him in the anti -graft war. It is however, regrettable that one of those subverting Buhari’s efforts is his Communications Minister.

“Reasons why Shittu cannot compare himself with Buhari are numerous. Buhari is known to be incorruptible, but Shittu cannot be classified as such, having acquired number of houses in Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos from ground zero when he was appointed in November 2015; bought choice vehicles for himself, his many wives and family members, including mistresses in less than three years in office as Buhari’s Minister.

“Unlike Buhari who he claims is his role model, Shittu owes salaries of aides working with him, those officially appointed and those he hired privately ranging from five to 28 months. This obviously negates the tenets of Islam, the religion he pretends to have preference for.

“President Buhari as a successful soldier and administrator would have married four wives, if he so desired but for his Spartan discipline, he chose to live by example. Conversely, Shittu who calls himself a moralist has no respect and feelings for the women folks, as he marries them at will and does away with them via elimination by substitution, making it difficult to know the number of wives he had married so far!

“Unlike Buhari, Shittu has never for once honoured his words as he always makes empty promises to political followers, raises false hopes and remains ungrateful to persons who have contributed positively to his life, particularly his benefactors.

“Characteristics of him, Shittu has dumped and neglected those that paved way for his appointment and those that contributed financially to his settling down in Abuja, immediately after his appointment as Minister in 2015.

“It then baffles me that a person of gross inadequacies and of these magnitude of questionable character in Shittu, can gullibly equate himself with President Buhari, a globally acclaimed man of impeccable character.”
