Rehan Staton, a 27-year-old Maryland resident who spent years working as a garbage worker, is getting national attention as he prepares to graduate from Harvard Law School this year with a law degree. To support other support personnel, he co-founded the nonprofit organisation, The Reciprocity Effect.

Staton’s education worsened, as was previously said, as a result of his family’s financial and mental difficulties following his mother’s departure. Since he was rejected from all colleges, he chose to work for Bates Trucking & Trash Removal in Bladensburg, Maryland, where his father and older brother were already employed. At that point, he once again considered attending college.

According to Staton, “A lot of the people at the sanitation company started referring to me as ‘smart,’ and not a lot of people have done that before.” In essence, they advised you to attend school.

Staton was initially hesitant to continue his studies, but with the assistance of his boss, he was accepted to Bowie State University. He later changed schools and majored in history at the University of Maryland, College Park.

He continued to work as a caretaker while in college and took out loans to pay for his studies. He heard several tales from his coworkers who had served time in prison while he was at work. It caused him to consider the law, the judicial system, and the prospect of attending law school.

In the end, Harvard accepted him. Following the widespread coverage of his remarkable tale, media billionaire Tyler Perry personally called him and offered to pay for his legal study.

In August 2020, Staton enrolled in law school. He has been leaving his imprint on the industry ever since. He helped establish a non-profit organisation called The Reciprocity Effect, which helps generate money and offers financial assistance to those who work in janitorial services. Presently, he has a partnership with Harvard and aims to eventually add other institutions.

“The nature of reciprocity would simply ensure everybody wins,” he said. “The support staff are happier. That would make us happier, and then that would give them a better work product. That would give us a better work product.”

Staton, who will graduate in two weeks, is also thinking of becoming a corporate lawyer with an emphasis on sports law.

I salute you Atty. Staton, you will definitely get yourself out of your situation right after graduation. As a lawyer, you will be able to help others later ( pro bono ) when you ave established a good name for yourself. Keep grounded and stay away from drugs and toxic people.
Get a master’s degree to shine even better. And my last piece of advice, do not ever forget where you came from for there is a saying that a man will never get to his created destiny if he forgot where he came from.
Focus and make your hard work be an example to others of your generation. Good luck and pray to the Lord to thank him for guiding you to the right path.
