The chairman, House of Representatives committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide has declared that the coming August 16 poll to fill the vacant seat of Ibadan North federal constituency of Oyo State at the national assembly will serve as a referendum for the massive support, quality governance and purposeful administration of our governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had on Monday officially flagged off its campaign rally for the forthcoming by-election in Ibadan North federal constituency, at a well-attended rally, held at Bodija market in Ibadan North local government area of Oyo State, in support of the PDP candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as Don.

Addressing journalists on the sidelines at the rally, Olajide, who represents Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo State at the National Assembly, described the August 16 by-election as a litmus test for the PDP’s popularity and a preview of what to expect in 2027.

“This election is not just about Ibadan North alone; it is a referendum on the direction of Oyo State and Nigeria as we prepare for 2027,” Olajide said.

“Let us use this opportunity to show the entire country that Oyo State remains firmly in the hands of a responsible, people-focused party. We must vote en masse for Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle and prove that the PDP is the party of the people.”

Hon. Adedeji Olajide, urged voters across the twelve wards of Ibadan North local government to unite and rally behind Oyekunle, whom he described as a “humble, experienced and responsive leader who will bring fresh energy and effective representation to the National Assembly.”

He assured residents and voters of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle’s readiness to serve with sincerity, transparency and accountability, stating that the PDP as a Party has always built it’s campaign on the solid foundation of community engagement and grassroot mobilisation, tailored towards delivering impactful legislation and federal presence to the people of the state.
